Chinese Medicine has been used to treat skin problems for thousands of years, this has been well documented. Dr Dong has expertise in treating skin problems. After he came to the UK, he found that there were a high prevalence of skin diseases in the UK. Therefore, he paid more attention to treating skin problems and gained a lot of experience in this area in the UK.

Eczema

Eczema is a very common skin problem, about one in five children and one in twelve adults in UK have eczema. Exzema which effects children can often clear by the age of 11 however some people continue to experience symptoms on and off through life.

Steroid creams are often used to treat eczema, but have many side-effects; a lot of chronic eczema was developed by long term of using steroid cream. In my clinic, most eczema cases I saw were combined with steroid dermatitis.

Chinese Medicine is a very good alternative to steroid creams; it has good results and no side-effects; for baby or children with eczema I use the Chinese baby massage technique and herbal washing, a lot of patients see improvements after one or two treatments, the younger the age, the better the results. For adult eczema, I use acupuncture and herbal medicine to drink, or to wash.

Psoriasis

When I worked at Dermatology Department in China, Psoriasis was one of the most common problems that patients would come to seek help for. Due to the wide range of herbal medicine available in China the majority of people have become accustom to the long term treatment of bitter tasting herbal tea and acupuncture, the successful cure rate of Psoriasis in China is higher than the UK. In the UK I have found very few people could endure the bitter taste of herbal tea for more than a few months. In the past years, I mainly used Acupuncture with herbal tablets and have successfully cured quite a few severe psoriasis cases.

Case study: A 52 year old lady who had psoriasis for over 10 years had patches covering her scalp, neck, chest, arms and legs. She had used steroid cream for long time, only to make matters worse. I gave her acupuncture, herbal tablets and herbal washing; after few weeks the nd patches became smaller and the itchiness became less. Two months later, the neck, chest, arms and legs all cleared up, her scalp still has patches, but better than before. She told me, for the first time in 10 years, she could wear skirts and short sleeve tops, she was very happy with the result and stopped the treatment.

Acne

For acne, I use a special herbal lotion which is applied to the skin; this lotion was originally used in my formal hospital for over 20 years. It is very effective to clear infection, reduce inflammation and repair the damaged skin. At the same time I also use herbal tea, or herbal tablet to treat the internal cause. I have treated many cases of acne which have not responded well with other treatment, but cleared up with my treatment.

Warts and Verruca’s

Most warts and verruca’s can be cleared by salicylic acid, or freeze treatment, but sometimes this may not work. Chinese Medicine is very effective to treat warts. I learnt warts treatment from my father; I had seen him cure many warts by his method. If it is a single wart, or a few separate warts, I used a lotion which is applied to the wart, within 1-2 weeks you will notice the wart will shrink and get black, separate from the normal skin and eventually come out. When it comes out, you could see it has a root, like a thorn in skin, because it very deep, it very difficult to cleared by freezer treatment, if there are a group of warts, I usually use herbal washing, this can take few month to clear the warts.

Neurodermatitis

Also called Simplex Chronicus; it is often on the back of the neck, on the inside of elbows or on the back of the knees. The skin becomes thick and feels like waxy and itchy. I use acupuncture and herbal washing to treat this problem, and have had very good results.

Free from pain, enjoy life.
